DISPATCHES FROM TECH

As the economic and political power of tech companies has surged since the pandemic, tech workers have fought for control over their work. They have organized against efforts from their bosses to deteriorate working conditions within their own sector and degrade the political situation more broadly, trends that have only accelerated with AI and attacks on immigrant workers. Recent years have seen walkouts, slowdowns, union drives, and strikes. But the labor movement in this sector is still taking shape. This is a time for workers to experiment inside and outside unions. Here, we share stories and reflections from the shop floor – tactics and actions, successes and failures – so that tech workers around the world can learn from and iterate on what other workers have tried. If you have a dispatch to share with us, reach out to tech@longhaulmag.com.
